Statement on ICE Killing in Minneapolis

For Immediate Release

January, 8, 2026

(Texas's 17th Congressional District) Yesterday in Minneapolis, a legal observer—an American citizen, a mother, and a defender of our Constitution—was shot and killed by an ICE agent during a federal operation. Renee Nicole Good was not a suspect. She was not a threat. She was there to ensure that the rights of her neighbors were respected. Instead, she lost her life at the hands of a federal agency that has become a danger to the very freedoms it claims to protect.

ICE’s actions in Minneapolis are not an isolated incident—they are the result of a culture of impunity, secrecy, and fear that has infected federal immigration enforcement. When agents can kill a legal observer in broad daylight, no American is safe from government overreach. This is not just a tragedy for one city; it is a warning to every community, including TX-17. ICE has shown it will trample civil liberties, destroy trust, and endanger lives in pursuit of its agenda.

We must demand accountability, transparency, and a complete overhaul of how immigration enforcement operates in this country. Until then, ICE remains a threat to the safety, dignity, and constitutional rights of all Americans.
